Important things to consider before you buy:
Day/Night cameras with infra red illuminators are the most
expensive cameras for home use. If you need to cover a lot of
areas consider black & white cameras to cut cost.
When comparing quotes between DVR's look for the frame
rate, hard-drive size, and recording time. Not all systems use
the same compression rate or software so a 500GB
hard-drive on system "A" may only hold half as much on
system "B".
Consider adding cameras instead of wider lenses. The wider
the lens the less detail you will capture. The lack of detail in
combination with overly compressed video will give you a poor
picture.
If you have a TV that supports VGA/XGA then consider using
it as your surveillance monitor. This will save you money,
space and will also give you the ability to see who is at the
door without leaving the couch.
Technical Support is important. Make sure your company
includes free technical support. Many of our clients chose our
computer based systems which allow us to connect to them
remotely to assist with an issue or provide additional training.
